EASE OFF!

Please, relent, release me!

Forget me for a few minutes, that I may have the time to catch my breath.

I need time to lick my wounds.

You have been an implacable enemy, pushing, breaking, tearing, and ripping me to pieces.

I have reached my breaking point.

I am drunk with fatigue and pain.

I try getting back on my feet to no avail.

Oh, please, let go of me!

Let me at least get back on my knees that I may fight with dignity.

Oh life, life! Don’t be so mean, spirited.

You have rained blows after blows upon me.

Do let the sunshine of hope rise upon me.

I beseech you, life.
